Day 2 -Washington D.C.

Ben's Chili Bowl, U Street, Washington D.C.
Another hot and humid day. We walked up to U Street to have lunch in the legendary Ben's Chill bowl. They are famous for serving half-smokes (it is a plump sausage, sometimes smoked and sometimes split). It must be good Barack Obama took President Sarkozy and Carla.
We have been staying in
Dupont Circle which is a good location and has some wonderful tree lined streets with 19th century houses. Close to the Philips Gallery which has a very good art collection and wonderfully air conditioned. We spent the evening walking around the city and went to a free concert a the State Capitol. They have free military band concerts every night. Unfortunately we have to leave tomorrow as we could easily spend another 5 days here as there is so much to do. All the musuems are free ad have special exhibitions as well as their usual exhibits. Our hotel had drinks at 5 pm each evening and it was a great opportunity to meet people. We met some really nice folk from Ayrshire in Scotland and a great retiree couple from Phoenix.
