Day 6 - Virginia, North Carolina and Tennesse

We spent so much time visiting galleries yesterday that we now have to drive 400 miles today. We are heading for the Smokey Mountains and going to visit Dollywood on Sunday which is also featuring a Bluegrass festival. It is Labour Day here on Monday, the last holiday before Thanksgiving so is expected to be very busy weekend.

We have been staying in Days Inn and other Budget hotels which also include breakfast. Although this morning I would debate that it was food.

We drove through the Blue Ridge Parkway and arrived in Asheville for dinner. Asheville has been voted the best town in America to live and we did notice lots of happy people.

From there we drove to Pigeon Forge, Tennesse the home of Dollywood. We were expecting a small quiet town but arrived to the equivalent of Blackpool. Paul's eyes were riveted to the many classic and customised cars and trucks parked at every motel on the strip. He was in metal heaven! We later found out that there is an annual 14 day gathering called 'Shades of the Past'
